<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />May 23,2000 <br /> <br />Page 2 <br /> <br />Special Order of Business. continued <br /> <br />Senator Steve Novak added that this session produced tax relief and passage of a major <br />transportation package which benefits the northern suburbs. New Brighton has been his <br />hometown and heart and soul of his political district the past three decades, and he is <br />privileged to serve the residents and Council. Novak announced his retirement at the end <br />of this term. <br /> <br />Larson thanked the Chamber for their donation to help purchase Thermal Imaging <br />Equipment. The Fire Department recently used the equipment during a controlled burn. <br /> <br />Motion by Samuelson, seconded by Hoffman, to WAIVE THE READING AND <br />ADOPT THE RESOLUTION ACCEPTING A $4,000.00 DONATION FROM NEW <br />BRIGHTON/MOUNDS VIEW CHAMBER OF COMMERCE TO PURCHASE <br />THERMAL IMAGING EQUIPMENT FOR THE FIRE DEPARTMENT. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Consent Agenda <br /> <br />Motion by Gunderman, seconded by Samuelson, to APPROVE THE CONSENT <br />AGENDA ITEMS AS FOLLOWS: <br /> <br />1. <br /> <br />CONSOLIDATED VOUCHERS: 088659-088818 FOR A GRAND TOTAL <br />OF $297,124.32. <br /> <br />2. <br /> <br />CONSIDERATION OF APPROVAL TO WAIVE THE READING AND <br />ADOPT THE RESOLUTION FOR THE AMENDMENT TO THE <br />RAMSEY COUNTY HOUSING AND REDEVELOPMENT AUTHORITY <br />JOINT COOPERATIVE AGREEMENT. <br /> <br />3. <br /> <br />CONSIDERATION OF APPROVAL TO AWARD THE BID FOR <br />IMPROVEMENT PROJECT 00-7, MAIN STREET VILLAGE UTILITIES, <br />TO VALLEY -RICH COMPANY IN THE AMOUNT OF $68,494.50. <br /> <br />4. <br /> <br />CONSIDERATION OF APPROVAL TO WAIVE THE READING AND <br />ADOPT THE RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PURCHASE OF <br />NETWORK UPGRADES AND REPLACEMENTS OF THE STATE <br />CONTRACT AND AUTHORIZATION TO PURCHASE ADDITIONAL <br />COMPUTER EQUIPMENT AS NEEDED OFF THE STATE CONTRACT <br />TO COMPLETE THIS PROJECT. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Public Hearing - None <br /> <br />Council Business <br /> <br />City Planner Cary Teague presented a moratorium on high density residential housing <br />developments within the City.
