However, if the City does not step in to purchase the property, there are
interested buyers for the property which could make redevelopment more difficult.

Hoffman asked if there is opportunity for the City to withdraw its agreement if
unanticipated costs arise. LeFevere added that if unanticipated expenses are identified,
perhaps the City could go before the County Board to request removal from the contract.

Benke asked if the owners are required to remove the tanks. Bishop said the County is
the owner, and the tanks need to be removed to bring the operation into compliance.
There should be no problem receiving Petro Funds for tank removal, however, there is
more competition for Brownfield funds. Benke feels the estimated value should reflect
potential cleanup costs. Bishop said the resolution provides for negotiation flexibility.

Motion by Larson, seconded by Samuelson, to WAIVE THE READING AND ADOPT
THE RESOLUTION AUTHORIZING PURCHASE OF THE TAX FORFEITED
PROPERTY AT 1427 OLD HIGHWAY 8 NW.

4 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried.

Announcements and Updates

Arntz said the Town Hall Meeting was well attended and received favorable comments.

Several residents noted concern of Lunds Grocery Store's closing.
