I

I

I

Council Meeting Minutes
May 27, 1997

Page 6

Council Business. continued

Fulton said that understanding that the project is underway is important, and the June 4
meeting will be held prior to the regularly scheduled Park Commission meeting. Guldan
asked if the meeting could be held in July. Fulton said rescheduling would cause delays
in the project and any actions which the City is required to take.

Motion by Samuelson, seconded by Larson, to DIRECT STAFF TO PROCEED
WITH CONSTRUCTION OF THE NATURE TRAIL AT THE FAMILY SERVICE
CENTER; AND INVITE THOSE WHO SIGNED THE PETITION TO AN
INFORMATIONAL MEETING AT THE FAMILY SERVICE CENTER ON JUNE
4, 1997.

4 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried.

Fulton presented the revised municipal mission statement and identification of success
indicators. A subcommittee consisting of Benke, Gunderman, Samuelson, Fulton,
Barbara Jeanetta, and Margaret Egan was formed to discuss success indicators and
community trends. Essentially, benchmark indicators and success performance measures
will identify whether the City is successful in meeting its goals. This will be an evolving
issue and the Public Policy Commission will assist in this goal.

Benke feels that goals developed internally should be consistent with external goals of
residents and organizations. The monitoring of property values and Irondale graduation
rates will allow for continual dialogue between the community, school district, and City.

Motion by Gunderman, seconded by Samuelson, to APPROVE THE REVISED
VISION, MISSION, GOAL STATEMENT, AND COMMUNITY SUCCESS
INDICATORS; AND REQUEST THE PUBLIC POLICY COMMISSION TO
CONTINUE THE REVIEW AND UPDATING PROCESS.

4 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried.

Announcements and Updates

Planning Commission and Economic Development Commission will meet May 28 to
discuss the Hwy 8 visioning. The general public is invited to discuss the plan on June 5.

Samuelson was honored as 1 of 25 Metropolitan State Graduates making a difference.

Adjournment

Motion by Samuelson, seconded by Larson, to ADJOURN THE MEETING.

4 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried.

Meeting was adjourned at 8:35 p.m.

:~-'~."

Robert J.
