<br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />February 22, 1994 <br /> <br />Page 4 <br /> <br />Council Business. continued <br /> <br />Samuelson asked what funding mechanism will be used for the project. Proper said <br />staff will submit a report to Council regarding the use of the stonn water utility fund <br />for the project. <br /> <br />Benke arrived at 7:44 p.m. <br /> <br />Williams asked that staff monitor the process during construction. Proper confinned <br />that staff and the Rice Creek Watershed District will oversee the construction <br />process. Also, staff will monitor the amount of cubic yards which are removed. <br />Proper noted that the boulevards will be resodded in the spring. <br /> <br />Larson noted that the neighbors who border the pond are pleased with the <br />information provided to them by staff. <br /> <br />Motion by Gundennan, seconded by Williams, to AUTHORIZE THE <br />MAINTENANCE CLEANING OF KNOLLWOOD POND, PROJECT 94-.15, <br />THE WORK TO BE DONE BY C.W. HOULE CONSTRUCTION AT AN <br />ESTIMATED COST OF $7,500. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Community Director Kevin Locke presented the agreement for design services for <br />the downtown streetscape project. <br /> <br />The City hired the landscape architectural finn of Sanders, Wacker, Wehnnan, <br />Bergley last year to develop an overall concept plan for the downtown streetscape <br />and help insure that the design of all the elements work together visually. The <br />elements of the downtown redevelopment project include: New Brighton Care <br />Center, Rottlund townhomes, Ordway's commercial/retail buildings, and the Family <br />Service Center. The Sanders finn would turn the basic concept plan into a detail <br />design. This proposed contract is for time and expenses not to exceed $16,000, and <br />the bulk of the contract will be brought before the Council at an upcoming meeting. <br /> <br />Williams feels the Sanders finn has done an excellent job and supports staff <br />reconunendation. <br /> <br />Motion by Williams, seconded by Samuelson, to APPROVE AND AUTHORIZE <br />EXECUTION OF AN AGREEMENT FOR DESIGN SERVICES WITH <br />SANDERS, WACKER, WEHRMAN, BERGLEY, INC.
