I
I
I
I
I
I D. TRAFFIC
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I
I

northwest, is a Residential-1 zone (single family).
To the immediate north is a continuation of the
Business-3 zone. The area to the west of Silver
Lake Road and south of County Raod E is located
within the Village of St. Anthony and is designated
R-l although the site is occupied by the Salvation
Army Silver Lake Camp.

Both Silver Lake Road and County Road E are minor
arterials which are maintained by Ramsey County.
Silver Lake Road has evolved into a major retail/
service commercial strip.

A 1973, 24-hour ADT traffic count, compiled by
Ramsey County, for the two thoroughfares at this
intersection are as follows:

Silver Lake Road, north of
County Road E

Silver Lake Road, south of
County Road E

County Road E, west of
Silver Lake Road

County Road E, east of
Silver Lake Road

17,300

18,000

3,900

4,600

According to the Ramsey County Traffic Engineering
Department, there have been no significant develop-
ments in the immediate area since 1973 that would
substantially effect these traffic count figures.

Traffic capacity is measured in terms of vehicle
per hour, per lane. The capacity at the inter-
section under discussion is 700 vehicles per hour,
per lane which equates to approximately 3,000 vehi-
cles per hour on Silver Lake Road, and 1,500 vehicles
per hour on County Road E.

IV-7

__. _. ,._. _ ----.J
