At
several points along Old Highway 8 the road is also known as 8th Avenue,
5th Avenue and 6th Street. The various names are confusing to drivers
unfamiliar with the City and may hamper emergency services.

The EDC recommends the Old Highway 8 Corridor be renamed to Rush
lake Parkway to provide for one consistent name and -incorporated into
the Greenway concept. The EDC recommends a public hearing and feels
dual name street signs be installed to help with the transition.

I

Police Chief Kelley reviewed the recommendation and feels dual signs are
appropriate. Kelley suggested the properties along 6th Street be changed
to the north-south numbering system. Fire Chief Frieden reviewed the
recommendation and noted no problems, but suggested dual signs for a
period of time.

Williams requested staff and the EDC compile information regarding the
change and mail to affected residents to evaluate before the hearing.
locke suggested notification to the local newspapers would be helpful.

Public HearinQ

Improvement of
Co.
