Drawing "B" provides for 265 yards distance and 40-45
stalls, but would require easements or purchase from the Minnesota
Department of Transportati on and Basi c Industri es in order to
construct the range. Staff's analysis is that it is better to
design a shorter range, but one which would serve a greater number
of customers.

1

Shafer Construction was contacted regarding the use of fill from the
1-694 widening project. Shafer is eager to provide, free fill
including high organic soils which are needed for topsoil. The I-
694 project will be finished in November 1991 and development of the
range could occur the summer of 1991 with opening in Spring 1992.

The initial investment would be $60,000, and about four years would
be required for recovery of the investment. After two years of
operations, a decision would be made regarding permanent structures,
paved parking, lighting, etc.

Counei 1 Business

U.s.
