<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Counci1 Meeting Minutes <br />July 11, 1989 <br /> <br />Page 5 <br /> <br />Public Hearing, continued <br /> <br />Williams feels a residential survey may be helpful in determining <br />the need for a name change. <br /> <br />Motion by Gunderman, seconded by Williams, to DIRECT STAFF TO DO <br />ADDITIONAL STUDY AND PREPARE A REPORT ON RENAMING PORTIONS OF 10TH <br />STREET, 8TH AVENUE, OLD HIGHWAY 8, AND 5TH AVENUE; AND CONSIDER THE <br />ALTERNATIVES PROPOSED BY COUNCIL. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Council Business <br /> <br />Les Proper, Public Works Director, presented the request to postpone <br />the decision for "Residents Only Parking" on 9th Avenue NW between <br />4th and 5th Street. <br /> <br />At the June 13th Council meeting, Council approved a parking ban for <br />the south si de of 4th Street NW between 01 d Hi ghway 8 and 12th <br />Avenue NW and directed staff to monitor and report back with the <br />findings. <br /> <br />Staff met wi th Ca 1 Lang, Commander of the Tri -City Legi on, and <br />discussed the on-street parking problem. Commander Lang is <br />sympathetic with the neighbors, but noted the parking ban has caused <br />a 30-50 parking space deficit. The Legion has expressed an interest <br />in leasing the vacant lot north of the Legion for overflow parking. <br /> <br />Proper said Mrs. Rother, 440-9th Avenue, has been monitoring the <br />parking situation and had not seen any problems after the No Parking <br />'5igns were installed. She felt the decision for "Resident Only <br />Parking" signs should be postponed, but to continue monitoring the <br />area. <br /> <br />Motion by Benke, seconded by Brandt, to POSTPONE THE DECISION FOR <br />"RESIDENTS ONLY PARKING" ON 9TH AVENUE NW BETWEEN 4TH AND 5TH <br />STREET, BUT CONTINUE TO MONITOR PARKING COMPLAINTS; AND ASSIST THE <br />TRI-CITY LEGION IN OBTAINING ADDITIONAL OFF-STREET PARKING. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Public Hearing <br /> <br />Renaming of 10th St. <br />between 8th Avenue <br />& 35W to Long Lake <br />Road <br />Report 89-182 <br /> <br />Council Bus i ness <br /> <br />Review of Parking <br />Prohibition on 4th St. <br />West of Old Hwy 8 <br />Report 89-184 <br />
