If Council feels funding is available, staff would <br />prepare the appropriate documents and assemble the necessary <br />information for approval of advance funding through Ramsey County. <br /> <br />Benke feels the bridge would be an excellent addition to the Long <br />Lake Regional Park Complex, and endorses the project. <br /> <br />Motion by Gunderman, seconded by Brandt, to ACCEPT THE PETITION AND <br />EXPRESS APPRECIATION TO THE SIGNATORIES FOR THEIR EFFORTS; AND <br />DIRECT STAFF TO INCLUDE THE LONG LAKE NORTHERN ACCESS PROJECT IN THE <br />FIVE YEAR FINANCIAL PLAN AND NEGOTIATE AN AGREEMENT WITH RAMSEY <br />COUNTY FOR THE EARLY IMPLEMENTATION. <br /> <br />4 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion carried <br /> <br />Proper presented for consideration the feasibility report for the <br />Old Highway 8 Greenway Corridor Streetscape Study and County Road <br />E Sidewalk. <br /> <br />The report has been prepared by Orr, Schelen, Mayeron, and <br />Associates, Inc. and Gair and Associates. The report was ordered <br />by Council in response to an identified need for safe walking space <br />in this area. <br /> <br />Public meetings were held with City Boards and Commissions and the <br />general public. Staff also met with Ramsey County Public Works, <br />Ramsey County Park and Recreation, and the Soo Line Railroad. <br /> <br />Staff is recommending the final report be presented at the June 27th <br />Council meeting. Notice of the presentation would be placed in the <br />local newspapers. Council requested staff to hand-deliver meeting <br />notices to the affected residents. <br /> <br />Staff recommends that the following Council action be taken at the <br />June 27th meeting: approve the report as the official plan for the <br />greenway corridor; order preparation of plans and specifications for <br />segments B, D, and County Road "E"; retain OSM Inc. to provide <br />engineering services; and direct remaining segments of the sidewalk <br />and other greenway elements be programmed into the City Capital <br />Improvement Plan. <br /> <br />The report strongl y encourages that power 1 i nes be placed underground <br />before tree and street lighting elements are done.
