Ramsey County has proposed to pave
the existing gravel shoulders with bituminous surfacing, if the City
agrees to pay 75% of the shoulder paving cost, estimated at $5,720.

Paved shoulders would provide better space for joggers and
bicyclists on Cleveland Avenue. The City of Arden Hills has agreed
to pay the paved shoulder cost along their part of Cleveland Avenue.

Ramsey County has agreed to not bill New Brighton for the shoulder
paving cost until next year so it could be in the 1990 budget.

Benke feels this is an excellent way to upgrade Cleveland Avenue at
a reasonable cost.

Brandt asked that staff fi nd out about constructi on dates and
possible delays and to be sure that the residents are notified.

Council Business

Consideration of
Feasibility Report for
Greenway Corridor Study
Report 89-158

Construction of Paved
Shoulders on Cleveland
Avenue
Report 89-159
