Opus Development <br />Agreement <br />Motion by Benke, seconded by Williams, to CONTINUE THE DEVELOPMENT Report 89-122 <br />AGREEMENT WITH OPUS CORPORATION UNTIL THE MAY 9, 1989, COUNCIL <br />MEETING. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion carried <br /> <br />Maurie Anderson, Parks and Recreation Director, presented the Plans and Funding of <br />concept plan for the south portion of the Pike Lake Trail. Pike Lake Trail <br />Report 89-123 <br />The trail would begin at Pike Lake Drive and terminate at Long Lake <br />Road. The trail would be eight feet wide bituminous and would <br />provide for hiking and biking traffic. Construction is expected to <br />bEgin this fall. <br /> <br />The project has been under consideration since 1986. Reasons for <br />the delay include almost two years of negotiations with United <br />Church of Chri st in regard to the 1 ocat; on and cost of a tra; 1 <br />easement; uncertainty of the final design of Long Lake Road, and the <br />Ramsey County trail system. The church has agreed to the City <br />reconstruction of a portion of their driveway. <br /> <br />The plan has been presented to residents on three occasions with the <br />last meeting on April 5, 1989. Initial reaction to the plan was <br />strongly unfavorable, however, staff and Park Board have reviewed <br />the many resident's suggestions. <br />
