<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />February 14, 1989 <br /> <br />Page 6 <br /> <br />Public Hearing, continued <br /> <br />Mattila presented a second public hearing to request to vacate a <br />portion of an existing drainage and utility easement. <br /> <br />Duane Lien is the applicant and the property is located at 1569-- <br />27th Avenue NW. <br /> <br />The proposed realignment of the drainage and utility easement would <br />protect the storm water retention by allowing ponding areas to be <br />located within the drainage easement. This would allow the <br />construction of a single family home without encroaching into the <br />drainage and utility easement. <br /> <br />Being no comments from the audience. <br /> <br />Motion by Benke. seconded by Brandt to CLOSE THE PUBLIC HEARING. <br /> <br />4 Ayes - 0 Nayes. Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Motion by Benke, seconded by Williams to WAIVE THE READING AND ADOPT <br />THE RESOLUTION VACATING A PORTION OF THE DRAINAGE AND UTILITY <br />EASEMENT LOCATED AT 1569--27TH AVENUE NW. <br /> <br />4 Ayes - 0 Nayes. Motion Carried <br /> <br />Council Business <br /> <br />The community was invited to attend the Council meeting to observe <br />the presentation by the National Guard for the proposed armory. <br /> <br />General John Cox said the National Guard is extremely excited to <br />build an armory in the New Brighton community. The facility would <br />benefit all ages and all types of people. The Guard is community <br />orientated and wishes to become part of the community. <br />In December 1988. the National Guard expressed a desire to locate <br />a 400 man District Armory in New Brighton. City staff has met with <br />representatives from the National Guard in regard to this proposal. <br /> <br />The Brooklyn Park Armory/Community Center is a perfect example of <br />the combined efforts of the National Guard and the Community.
