Apple <br />Valley. Inver Grove Heights. and Northeast Minneapolis. <br /> <br />The funding will be divided among the Federal Government. State <br />Government-Nati onal Guard. and the Ci ty. The Federal Government <br />will fund 75% and the State Government-National Guard/City of New <br />Bri ghgton wi 11 fund 25%. The fundi ng for the 25% wi 11 be di vi ded <br />in equal halves between the State Government/National Guard and New <br />Brighton. <br /> <br />The Federal Government wi 11 request some cri teri a dependi ng upon <br />the size of the facility. but the Guard is open to any enhancements <br />suggested by the City. <br /> <br />Before the National Guard can move forward with this project, a deed <br />to the site and an irrevocable Resolution of Commitment is required <br />from the City. <br /> <br />The proposed site would be required to be in a favorable location <br />and have sewer. water. and utilities installed. <br /> <br />The choice of the consultant or architect is entirely chosen by the <br />State Selection Board. <br /> <br />The estimated cost would be $4.5 million but this estimate does not <br />i ncl ude the communi ty center or any other enhancements. <br />Construction is scheduled to begin in 1992. <br /> <br />The design plans wi 11 be a coordinated effort among the Guard IS <br />representatives and the City staff. If a community center becomes <br />linked to the armory facility. the two groups will work together to <br />determine the costs and whatever shared costs may result from shared <br />facilities or upgrades. Other communities with armory/community <br />centers have customi zed the i r fac i 1 i ty to the i r own commun i ty IS <br />needs. <br /> <br />The units proposed will be National Guard Headquarters and <br />Headquarters of Company #470 Infantry Division. The Headquarters <br />Office commands the entire Infantry Division in the State of <br />Minnesota. In addition. the Headquarters commands a brigade in <br />Minnesota. Illinois. Iowa. and all the division forces in the State <br />of Minnesota. The total command will be about 10.000 troops. There <br />will be a total of 37 full-time employees at this facility. <br /> <br />The Headquarters Company will employ 24 full-time technicians which <br />will work in the proposed armory every day.
