Work done on State-owned signal cabinets by MN/DOT Presentation of <br /> personnel; Emergency Pre-emption <br />2. Work done on County-owned signal cabinets by County System <br /> personnel; Report 89-17 <br />3. Equipment purchased outright by the City; and. Resolution 89-10 <br />4. A City contract for wiring and equipment installation. <br /> <br />Staff is proposing to open bids for the City contract on February <br />22. 1989. The bids will be presented for consideration to Council <br />at the February 28. 1989. meeting. <br /> <br />After the City contract for the wiring and equipment installation <br />has been approved by Council, then MN/DOT and County cabinet work <br />will be performed in March and April. <br /> <br />The EVP system is expected to be completed and in operation around <br />May 1, 1989. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Gunderman asked what the difference is between a temporary signal <br />at 14th Street and Silver Lake Road versus a permanent signal. <br /> <br />Mr. Robert Morast, Engineer. Orr. Schelen, Mayeron and Associates. <br />said the signal at 14th Street and Silver Lake Road is a spanwire <br />temporary system. Thi s system is schedul ed to be renovated very <br />shortly. The County will provide the EVP equipment and will connect <br />the signal into the entire system running down Silver Lake Road. <br />There will be the normal City participation cost based on entry legs <br />for the installation. <br /> <br />Williams asked if each Police and Fire vehicles would be equipped <br />with transmitters, and if that cost is included in the estimate. <br />Proper said the transmitters are estimated at $14.000 and is not <br />covered under MSA funds. <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Moti on by Gunderman.. seconded by Larson to, APPROVE THE PLANS, <br />SPECIFICATIONS, AND ENGINEER'S ESTIMATE FOR THE EMERGENCY VEHICLE <br />PRE-EMPTION SYSTEM, PROJECT 88-17; AND AUTHORIZE THE ADVERTISEMENT <br />FOR BIOS FOR THE WIRING AND EQUIPMENT INSTALLATION, BIDS TO BE <br />OPENED FEBRUARY 23, 1989, AND PRESENTED TO COUNCIL FOR CONSIDERATION <br />OF AWARD AT THE FEBRUARY 28, 1989 COUNCIL MEETING; AND APPROVE THE <br />ATTACHED AGREEMENT FOR INSTALLATION AND MAINTENANCE OF EMERGENCY <br />VEHICLE PER-EMPTION AGREEMENT #88017 WITH RAMSEY COUNTY; AND TO <br />ADOPT THE RESOLUTION APPROVE THE USE OF MSA FUNDS OFF-SYSTEM. <br /> <br />3 Ayes -0 Nayes, Motion Carried <br />
