The 5-year program is primarily a planning <br />s not commit the City in any way to specific projects. <br /> <br />The project for 1988 have either received approval and are under <br />contract at this time. or have received preliminary approval and are <br />in the design stage at this time. This 5-year program coincides <br />with the Ci y1s 5-year Capital Improvement Plan. with the exception <br />of the con truction of 5th Avenue NW from County Road E2 to Old <br />Hi ghway 8. whi ch was moved from 1993 to 1989 at the request of <br />Ramsey Co un y. <br /> <br />Moti on by Gunderman. seconded by Brandt, to WAIVE THE READING AND <br />ADOPT THE R SOLUTION APPROVING THE MUNICIPAL STATE AID STREET SYSTEM <br />5-YEAR CONS RUCTION PLAN. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 ayes. Motion Carried <br /> <br />The City r ceived a letter from Brigadier General John H. Cox. <br />regarding t e possible location of a National Guard Armory Facility <br />in New Brighton. A National Guard Armory is usually multi- <br />functional nd is developed jointly with the host community similar <br />to the armo ies in Brooklyn Park and Bloomington. The major costs <br />of such fa i 1 i ty are borne by the state and federal government. <br />Space is ma e available to the host city for local use. <br /> <br />The propose <br />office spac . <br />armory cou d <br />substanti ally <br /> <br />armory would be a division headquarters building with <br />kitchen. classrooms and recreation facilities. The <br />help provide for community center activities at <br />reduced costs to the City. <br /> <br />Benke. Sinda. and Locke met with General Cox a few weeks ago. One <br />condition of this proposal was that the City provide the land. <br /> <br />Benke propo ed discussing the opportunities at the upcoming weekend <br />teambuilding workshop. <br /> <br />Benke feels this will be an exciting venture. <br /> <br />William said he shares Benke's enthusiasm about this project. and <br />would like to volunteer to become a member of the task force. <br /> <br />Council Business <br /> <br />5 Year MSA <br />Construction Plan <br />Report 89-14 <br />Resolution 89-08 <br /> <br />Proposed National <br />Guard Armory <br />Report 89-15 <br /> <br />~ <br />
