Pellow <br />interested n assisting the City in this exciting opportunity. <br /> <br />Wi 11 i ams as <br />this happen <br />the Nationa <br />of the rema <br /> <br />ed if a legislative appropriation is required to make <br />Benke said about 75% would be federally funded. and <br />Guard and the City would negotiate appropriate shares <br />ning 25%. <br /> <br />Williams a ked Pellow if he could find out which the other <br />communities have accepted similar proposals and notify the Council <br />of his find ngs. <br /> <br />Brandt sugg sted that staff assemble information from the Citizen <br />Study Commi tee. Park Board and other committees who have considered <br />the matter and have it available for the upcoming weekend <br />discussion. <br /> <br />Larson said he has toured the Brooklyn Park facility and found it <br />to be a fan astic facility and is excited to envision this type of <br />facility in New Brighton. <br /> <br />Sinda sugge ted scheduling General Cox to make a presentation of <br />the proposal to City representatives and citizens who are interested <br />in the com unity center. and to retain Don Wiski. a private <br />consultant ho has worked on projects for the City before. to assist <br />the task force in the implementation of this project. The Financial <br />Policy Advi ory Board should be instructed to make recommendations <br />as to the v rious financing alternatives the City may use. Types <br />of faciliti s. site, and space needs should also be determined. <br /> <br />Benke said the National Guard is very flexible with design and <br />space. and eels a brainstorming session this weekend would open up <br />many ideas 0 present to General Cox. <br /> <br />Gunderman sked if there is a possibility that the business <br />community c uld be involved in the space available at the proposed <br />community c nter. <br /> <br />Benke said eneral Cox had mentioned that other armories have been <br />used as con ention center hosts to neighboring businesses. <br /> <br />Council Business <br /> <br />to Proposed National <br />on Guard Armory <br />is Report 89-15 <br /> <br />~ <br />
