In September, 1988, the Lion's Club <br />contribute 70% of the lawful purposes donations to New Brighton <br />Community onations. <br /> <br />Kelley sai the definition of a community donation is the amount <br />which is ontributed to a non-profit tax exempt organization <br />operati ng ithi n the Ci ty of New Bri ghton. The purpose of the <br />organizati n's programs should be specifically; recreational, <br />cultural, nvironmental, or artistic. These programs should best <br />match the citizens of the City or individuals who need special help. <br /> <br />Brandt wou d like to know what is the percentage or total of the <br />donations hich go towards charitable donations. Benke suggested <br />to Kelley, to follow-up with each organization and categorize the <br />percentage of donations considered lawful versus charitable; and <br />publish this in the next quarterly report. Benke suggested, Brandt <br />could assi t in designing a one-page summary which would include the <br />charitable donation information. <br /> <br />Moti on by Brandt, seconded by Larson to TAKE NO ACTION FOR THE <br />APPLICATIO FOR RENEWAL OF CHARITABLE GAMBLING LICENSES FOR THE NEW <br />BRIGHTON L ONS CLUB. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Moti on by Brandt, seconded by Larson to TAKE NO ACTION FOR THE <br />APPLICATIO FOR RENEWAL OF CHARITABLE GAMBLING LICENSES FOR THE TRI- <br />CITY AMERI AN LEGION POST #513. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried. <br /> <br />Brandt tha ked both organizations for their contributions and looks <br />forward to their continued involvement. Benke mentioned there are <br />many other organizations involved in charitable donations, which <br />were not m ntioned tonight. <br /> <br />Williams uggested some type of recognition be presented to <br />organizati ns that go beyond the required lawful donation. <br /> <br />Benke sugg sted, that the Citizen Study Committee could possibly <br />include th's idea into the Community Recognition Dinner.
