1

1

1

Council Meeting Minutes
November 22, 1988

Page 8

Council Busi ess continued

Other high land in New Brighton, which has or will experience
simi 1 ar low ater pressure, is the 32nd Avenue NW/Woodl and Hi 11 s
area north 0 County Road E and east of Stinson Boulevard and most
of the 60 ac e J.U.O. property located west of Silver Lake Road.

Low water pr ssure in the 32nd Avenue NW/Woodland Hills area was
originally r solved by the installation of a City pressure booster
stati on on C unty Road E west of Sil ver Lake Road. The booster
station was aken out of service and this area was connected to the
Columbia Hei hts water system in 1981, after the water contamination
discovery. he change was made to reduce demand on our 1 i mi ted
system, to p ovide an emergency interconnection, and to eliminate
high energy ost and fire flow problems associated with the booster
station.

The recommen ed solution for the Seminary Estates area is individual
pressure boo ter pumps which would be installed in the homes. The
estimated co t would be $500/each, and would be installed next to
the water me er. The City would provide the pump to the property
owner and he owner would have the responsibility for the
installation maintenance, and operating costs. To qualify for a
booster pump the main floor of the home must be above elevation
990.

The undeve 10 ed J. U. O. property wi 11 have to be addressed at the
time of dev lopment to determine the best way to serve this
property.

At the tim of the J.U.O property development, the 32nd
Avenue/Woodl nd Hills area would also be addressed. One possibility
would be a reation of a high pressure zone on our system which
would requir the construction of a new elevated tank and booster
station.

Benke had so e concern of the possible duplication involved if the
J.U.O proper y would require the installation of the elevated tank
and booster tation.

Wi 11 i ams ask
were notifi e
reviewed al
discussed.

d if the developers of the Seminary Estates property
of this pressure problem. Proper explained, he has
the past documents and has found thi s has been

Williams as ed if the unit would require a lot of floor space.
Proper said he unit is the size of a standard water heater with a
measurement f 5 feet by 3 feet square.

Cou nc i 1 Bus i ness

Water Pressure Booster
Pumps
Report 88-335
Resolution 88-135
