The <br />applicant i requesting special permission to construct the proposed <br />garage seve feet from the Kiowa Avenue NW right-of-way in order to <br />avoid damag ng or removing said trees. <br /> <br />Larson aske what is the purpose of this second garage. Mattila <br />sai d the se ond garage wi 11 be used for stori ng of vehi cl es and <br />boats. <br /> <br />Mattila sho ed slides of the property in both summer and fall to <br />illustrate the large mature trees on the property; and the <br />surrounding area. <br /> <br />Benke asked if this would create a problem with access and parking <br />in the driv way. Mattila said there is a 15 foot right-of-way with <br />the 7 foot etback, which would create 22 feet of actual driveway <br />to the gara e. <br /> <br />Larson aske <br />approve thi <br />Council to <br />visibility <br />then grant <br /> <br /> <br />if the Planning Commission is required to review and <br />request. Mattila explained, the ordinance requires the <br />eview the request; and if this request is found to be <br />ompatible with the surrounding uses, the Council can <br />pecial permission to the applicant. <br /> <br />Benke asked, since this garage would be mainly used for storage; <br />would a saller garage be a option. Mattila explained, the <br />applicant h d difficulty finding a suitable location to build, which <br />would not h rm the vegetation; and it would be difficult to reduce <br />the size of the garage. <br /> <br />Williams a ked what is the planned architectural design of the <br />garage. Ma tila has not received design plans from the applicant. <br /> <br />Larson aske if surrounding property owners have been notified of <br />this additi n. Mattila has notified the surrounding owners, and had <br />gi ven them 14 days to respond wi th concerns.
