COUN- <br />CIL MEETING WITH A PROPOSAL WHICH INCLUDES ALL DETAILS <br />TO BE INCLUDED IN A FEASIBILITY STUDY ON OLD HIGHWAY 8 <br />AND COUNTY ROAD E FOR A GREENWAY/SIDEWALK PROJECT". <br /> <br />4 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Amended <br /> <br />4 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Main Motion Carried as Amended <br /> <br />Announcements and Updates <br /> <br />Ramsey County Charter Commission Update: <br /> <br />Brandt reported the Commission adopted a resolution <br />seeking permission from the Ramsey C8unty Delegation to <br />extend the life of the Committee for approximately <br />another year to Finish its work a~d come up with a <br />recommendation or a proposed Charter, if that would be <br />the recommendation. <br /> <br />In addi ti on, Brandt l'ecounted the Commi s5i on passed a <br />resolution to study all local government services in <br />Ramsey County to see where duplicate services can be <br />eliminated, with the Commission m~king the re~ults of <br />the study available to all local units of ~overnment in <br />Ramsey County and to the legislature. The affected <br />local governments would then be asked to study the re- <br />port and take voluntary action where appropriate (study <br />could lead to a recommendation that all local government <br />functions be consolidated, or there may be a recommenda- <br />tion of a combination of services through joint power <br />agreements). <br /> <br />Williams reported he monitored a Ramsey County Delega- <br />tion meeting at which time that issue was discussed and <br />stated there is an amendment to a bill (authored by <br />Knuth) in the House that does extend the life of the <br />Commission to 1989; if it passes, it will be sent to the <br />Senate. <br /> <br />Williams added that Mr. Faricy updated the delegation on <br />the Ramsey County Charter Commission and took some heat <br />from Representative Osthoff, particularly about the <br /> <br />Page 8 <br /> <br />Announcements <br />and Undates <br />-,_,...............~__I~___,_--- <br /> <br />Ramsey COU;ity <br />Charter <br />C.:::m1f114 55 i on <br />
