BERESTRIC- <br />TED. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried <br /> <br />Motion by Benke, seconded by Gunderman, to APPROVE THE FORMATION <br />OF AN AD HOC MARKETING COMMITTEE TO BE DISCONTINUED ON MARCH 31, <br />1989, UNLESS OTHERWISE EXTENDED BY COUNCIL; APPOINT JOHN RISDALL, <br />JERRY BENSING, PAUL FOURNIER, HENRY KAYNES, CHAR SAMUELSON, AND <br />BERNIE SKREBES TO SERVE ON THE COMMITTEE; APPOINT JOHN RISDALL AS <br />CHAIRMAN; AND TO APPOINT ROGER WILLIAMS AS COUNCIL REPRESENTATIVE. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried <br /> <br />Pam Schmitz, Chair of the Citizen Study Committee, had nothing to <br />add to the staff report. <br /> <br />In response to Benke's question, Schmitz advised there would be <br />time for questions/answers both during the Small Groups sessions <br />and during the Closing. <br /> <br />Motion by Gunderman, seconded by Brandt, to APPROVE THE TOWN HALL <br />MEETING AGENDA AS SUBMITTED BY THE CITIZEN STUDY COMMITTEE. <br /> <br />5 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried <br /> <br />Because Mayor Benke is employed by the Minnesota Department of <br />Transportation (MN/DOT), Williams chaired the next item on the <br />agenda. <br /> <br />Bob Brown, MN/DOT District 5, briefly reviewed the upcoming I-694 <br />third lane addition project (0285-47) through New Brighton and <br />then outlined the four issues that remain unresolved in New <br />Brighton: (1) extension of noise wall in the Thornda1e Avenue <br />area; (2) color of existing noise wall; (3) landscaping throughout <br />the corridor; and (4) storm sewer needs at Silver Lake Road. <br /> <br />Brown indicated final plans will be sent for approval next Decem- <br />ber and noted the first landscaping season is here now. <br /> <br />Extension of Noise Wall <br /> <br />Brown explained the noise wall (144 feet) was never installed be- <br />cause of a lawsuit by Lighting Concepts and, although Lighting <br />Concepts lost the lawsuit, the criteria had changed so that the <br />extension is no longer required (as the panels had already been <br />ordered and are still in storage, the city can install them if <br />they so desire). <br /> <br />James Hanson, MN/DOT, reviewed 1970's versus 1980's criteria; <br />Brown explained the new pavement will be quieter than the existing <br />pavement. <br /> <br />Page 16 <br /> <br />Ad Hoc Marketing <br />Committee <br />Report 88-73 <br /> <br />Town Hall Agenda <br />Report 88-72 <br /> <br />MN/DOT 1-694 Update <br />Report 88-74 <br />
