EXTRACT Ofi MINUTES REGULAR MEETING JANUARY 19, 1982 PLANNING COMMISSION CONSIDERATION AND RECOMMENDATION SP-100, RICE CREEK CENTER SIGN PLAN 7:55 p.m. - 8:33 p.m. SP-lOO RICE CREEK CENTER Chairman Williams opened the hearing and expressed that it appeared that a considerable amount of work and time had been put into this proposed sign plan. No one presen-t--spo-ke.to -the iss--ue. Commissioner Baker indicated that he was concerned about the precedent that was being set by allowing the applicant a copy board on the main ground sign. He further noted that he was questioning that this would not be unfair signage to the rest of the commercial activities within the City. Commissioner Knuth indicated that he had problems with the driveways located on Silver Lake Road in regard to finding them in the evening. Commissioner Livingston also noted that he felt that additional entrance signs should be placed on Silver Lake Road. Commissioner Knuth stated that an entrance sign should be placed on the southernmost driveway and the northernmost driveway along Silver Lake Road and should be lite so that the entrances are noticable in the evening. Commissioner Helgeson stated that such entrance signs should. be the same style and design as the other signage of the Center so that the entire area has uniform design in signs. Commissioner Baker noted that the Taco John's Restaurant u~es t~e so~thernmost entrance and felt that a directional ~ slgn w~th Rlce Creek Center on it would cause additional confuslon. Comm1ssioner K~uth indicated that he felt the most important ~art ?f the entrance signs would be that they should be lll~mlnated to pr?vide traffic in the area with a more deflned entrance lnto the site.
