<br />EXTRACT Ofi MINUTES <br />REGULAR MEETING <br />JANUARY 19, 1982 <br /> <br />PLANNING COMMISSION CONSIDERATION AND RECOMMENDATION <br /> <br />SP-100, RICE CREEK CENTER SIGN PLAN <br /> <br />7:55 p.m. - <br />8:33 p.m. <br />SP-lOO <br />RICE CREEK <br />CENTER <br /> <br />Chairman Williams opened the hearing and expressed <br />that it appeared that a considerable amount of work and <br />time had been put into this proposed sign plan. <br /> <br />No one presen-t--spo-ke.to -the iss--ue. <br /> <br />Commissioner Baker indicated that he was concerned about <br />the precedent that was being set by allowing the <br />applicant a copy board on the main ground sign. He <br />further noted that he was questioning that this would <br />not be unfair signage to the rest of the commercial <br />activities within the City. <br /> <br />Commissioner Knuth indicated that he had problems with <br />the driveways located on Silver Lake Road in regard to <br />finding them in the evening. <br /> <br />Commissioner Livingston also noted that he felt that <br />additional entrance signs should be placed on Silver Lake <br />Road. <br /> <br />Commissioner Knuth stated that an entrance sign should be <br />placed on the southernmost driveway and the northernmost <br />driveway along Silver Lake Road and should be lite so that <br />the entrances are noticable in the evening. <br /> <br />Commissioner Helgeson stated that such entrance signs <br />should. be the same style and design as the other signage <br />of the Center so that the entire area has uniform design <br />in signs. <br /> <br />Commissioner Baker noted that the Taco John's Restaurant <br />u~es t~e so~thernmost entrance and felt that a directional <br />~ slgn w~th Rlce Creek Center on it would cause additional <br />confuslon. <br /> <br />Comm1ssioner K~uth indicated that he felt the most important <br />~art ?f the entrance signs would be that they should be <br />lll~mlnated to pr?vide traffic in the area with a more <br />deflned entrance lnto the site. <br /> <br />Commis~i?ner Sande comme~ted that she was against the placement <br />~Of addltlonal entrance slgns because it increased clutter and <br />she felt that there was no particular need and any conf . <br />th 1 t. f th d .
