He stated that in <br />other shOPPing centers with amusement centers there wer2 <br />not these kinds of problems. He noted that he talked to <br />the people at the Pizza Factory a~d they said there hasn't <br />been any problems and will help him monitor the mall area. <br />He stated that problems before were caused by bad management: <br /> <br />Chairman Williams commented that he was unsure whose <br />responsibility it was for the parking lot activities _ the <br />owner of the Center, amusement center operator and/or Police <br />Department? <br /> <br />Commissioner Livingston stated that there are security guards <br />at the'Apache Center. <br /> <br />Mary Lou Lindholm of the Consignment Shop stated that her <br />business opened October l~ ,1982 at the center. She stated that <br />on a Friday night there were 25 teenagers in the hall and sitting <br />on her store ledge. She was surprised they didn~t break <br />windows. She stated that there was no supervlsion of the mall <br />area and that in the winter this will be a warm place to hang <br />out. She stated that she didn't think the one proposed <br />supervisor could manage the activities within the amusement ~enter, <br />mall area and parking lot at the same time. She noted that 1t <br />woul~ be impossible for one supervisor to adequately contr?l the <br />park1ng of bikes. She stated that there should be a secur1ty <br />gU~rd watching the mall and parking lot. She also inquir~d how <br />th1S amusement center with hours to 12:00 p.m. could recelve patrons <br />because the mall is locked at 11:00 p.m. She requested that tne <br />Police Department start enforcing the curfew. She stated that <br />the kids directly affected and influenced her customers and <br />therefore affects her business. She stated that the littering <br />alone caused by the children gives her business a bad image. <br /> <br />Chairman Williams inquired if the tenants have approached the <br />Owner of the Center for better security. <br /> <br />Mrs. Lindholm said that she had not yet talked to the owner. <br /> <br />Commissioner Livingston stated that the owner should be required <br />to provide adequate security and maintenance for the tenants. <br /> <br />Commissioner Sande indicated that when Brighton Village Shopping <br />Center was first opened there were similar problems and that the <br />owner had now effectively dealt with those problems. <br />
