The allowable maximum height is based on the more liberal allow~ano~s~ provided by the property, abutment on New Highway 8. That height limitation is 22 feet. 2', The allowable area using the same gctideZines is 90 square ~eetf 3 The maximum items of information shall be 10. Elimination of the "OPEN 24 HOURS," portion of the sign could, for-instances, reduce the items o~ information to below 10 and mould aid in obtaa,ning maximum allowable height of the identification portion of the sign. 4. The sign shall not utilize any moving or rotating parts nor shall it utilize flashing lights. In justification of adherence to the guidelines established by the proposed ordinance-the .following is submitted" The physical location of the property does not justify unusual considerations in height and area allowances. The property is over 1600 feet from 35W. The argument-for needed freeway visibility ' should be considered only in those cases wherein the property in - questions is within 600 feet of-any-freeway. J -ADMINISTRATIVE DISCUSSION: The requested sign is 348 square feet in area. This is 48 square feet .more-than what would be allowed under the ordinance. Sambo's has indicated that it-has a-'sign which is 221 square feet in'' .area and:38~ feet in height. This sign .could be constructed without need of a'variance provided that the required 40 ft.. setbacks from New -Trunk Highway,No. 8, County Road D and Long Lake Road are observed:- It ~` -seems that Sambo's intention at this time is to propose the .smaller sign rather than, the.... one .first,.presented, ,.
