h. The owner of any sign shall properly maintain and keep <br />such sign in a safe, orderly condition and keep such <br />sign, including all parts and supports, properly <br />painted. <br />i. Motorized or non-motorized vehicles such as trucks, <br />trailers, van, carts etc., primarily used to advertise <br />(rather than in the day-to-day conduct of business) <br />are subject to the regulations governing ground signs. <br />This includes vehicles which are used. for storage <br />purposes except for building contractor's vehicles <br />as covered in Section 14-030 (a. 2). <br />j. No sign shall be erected or maintained so as to prevent <br />free ingress or egress from any door, window or fire <br />escape_ No sign shall be attached to a standpipe or <br />fire escape. <br />Section IV. Sections 14-090 (c) and (f) of Appendix F of <br />the 1966 Code of Ordinances of the City of New Brighton are hereby <br />amended to read as follows; <br />c. Restrictions on Combustible Materials. All signs <br />erected in Fire Zone No. 1, shall have structural <br />members of non-combustible materials. In Fire Zones <br />No. 2 and No. 3, signs may have structural members of <br />combustible materials. <br />Ground signs may be constructed of any material meeting <br />the requirements of this code, except as provided above. <br />No combustible materials other than approved plastics <br />shall be used in the construction of electric signs. <br />f. Display Surfaces. Display surfaces in all types of <br />signs may be made of metal, glass, or approved plastics. <br />Display surfaces on non-electric signs may be made of <br />wood. <br />Glass thickness and area limitations shall be as set <br />forth in Table No. 14-A_ <br />Section V. Sections 14-200 (a) (1) , (b) (1) , (d) and (e) <br />of Appendix I of the 1966 Code of Ordinances is hereby amended <br />to read as follows: <br />(a 1 1-Z- <br />If a building is on land which abuts two or more <br />streets, each side of the building facing a street, <br />shall be separately considered for purposes of <br />determining compliance with provisions of this ordinance. <br />(b)~ <br />~ If a building has a rear or side yard abutting on a <br />freeway, wall signs must conform to the Table of <br />Basic Design Elements, except that such permitted wall <br />sign shall exceed three hundred (300) square feet. <br />
