h. The owner of any sign shall properly maintain and keep such sign in a safe, orderly condition and keep such sign, including all parts and supports, properly painted. i. Motorized or non-motorized vehicles such as trucks, trailers, van, carts etc., primarily used to advertise (rather than in the day-to-day conduct of business) are subject to the regulations governing ground signs. This includes vehicles which are used. for storage purposes except for building contractor's vehicles as covered in Section 14-030 (a. 2). j. No sign shall be erected or maintained so as to prevent free ingress or egress from any door, window or fire escape_ No sign shall be attached to a standpipe or fire escape. Section IV. Sections 14-090 (c) and (f) of Appendix F of the 1966 Code of Ordinances of the City of New Brighton are hereby amended to read as follows; c. Restrictions on Combustible Materials. All signs erected in Fire Zone No. 1, shall have structural members of non-combustible materials. In Fire Zones No. 2 and No. 3, signs may have structural members of combustible materials. Ground signs may be constructed of any material meeting the requirements of this code, except as provided above. No combustible materials other than approved plastics shall be used in the construction of electric signs. f. Display Surfaces. Display surfaces in all types of signs may be made of metal, glass, or approved plastics. Display surfaces on non-electric signs may be made of wood. Glass thickness and area limitations shall be as set forth in Table No. 14-A_ Section V. Sections 14-200 (a) (1) , (b) (1) , (d) and (e) of Appendix I of the 1966 Code of Ordinances is hereby amended to read as follows: (a 1 1-Z- If a building is on land which abuts two or more streets, each side of the building facing a street, shall be separately considered for purposes of determining compliance with provisions of this ordinance. (b)~ ~ If a building has a rear or side yard abutting on a freeway, wall signs must conform to the Table of Basic Design Elements, except that such permitted wall sign shall exceed three hundred (300) square feet.
