~"'.....,........, III I III Council Meeting Minutes August 11, 1987 Blomquist asked Jeppson about the affect of the fence on the trees; Jeppson stated there are ways to put in a fence without destroying trees with heavy equipment. Jeppson stated it is on the record that the residents did not want the fence and that the Planning Commission recommended the fence to council. Williams recalled the neighbors felt there would be adverse impacts on their property which is why the Planning Commission re- commended a fence; and asked Harstad Companies if they feel the building of the fence will require the removal of, or damage to, the existing trees. Blomquist, having served on the Planning Commission at the time of the action in question, agreed with Sande and asked that slides be a part of the October 13, 1987, staff presentation. 4 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried Mattila reviewed slides of the proposed restricted/limited parking area near Irondale High School. In response to Benkels inquiry regarding the extent of the re- stricted parking area, Mattila indicated Jim Fabio, 1910 Rockstone Lane, asked that the area in question be extended at this time rather than waiting until a later time. Williams thought one of the concerns expressed by the neighbors was the narrowing of traffic on Poppyseed on the south side from Long Lake Road to Rockstone; and asked if two-hour parking on the south side was not a problem. Mattila stated, if No Parking Anytime were to be extended to Rock- stone Lane, there would not be resident parking for the two-family residences on Poppyseed just west of Rockstone Lane. Mattila continued, providing the two-hour restricted parking works, council could take this as a first step without depriving the residents of parking on their own street; if it doesn't work, council could extend No Parking to Rockstone Lane. Benke stated the entire issue is an experiment and is willing to wait until Fall to determine whether or not the No Parkying Any- time should be extended to Rockstone.
