October 7, 1981 Park Board Minutes. Page 9 B. .Day Care Program See Council Report C. Long Lake Ice Clean Up Olson stated that one of her girl scouts is doing a gold program, which is performing some service to the community. 'She wants to organize the cleanup of Long Lake by contacting groups. Olson wants approval from the Park Board .and Council to organize this activity. This person would make a presentation to the Park Board at the next. meeting.. Schmidt said last spring there were some people from Long Lake in the manager's office complaining about the problem. Olson said she doesn~t know how much can be done but would like to do part of it - at least cut down.. Van Batten said this is what he had mentioned at a previous meeting. Olson said she will need containers. Anderson said he will take care of that need. Olson asked if Council approval was necessary. Schmidt said no. But she may want some recognition. Anderson said it may be needed. The Council referred this item to the. Park Board so.we should at least let the Council know what we intend. Dahl said. we can listen to the presentation and then take it from there. VI. Old Business A. Criteria for Use of Donations Dahl talked about .single donation being used for a single item - not to be coupled to use as something toward a large item. Johnson said we may use if we set. up a fund. for donations.. Dahl said it could be worded "when possible" single donation with. single item. Gunderman said he doesn~t know why we don't want something. non-consumable. Carlson asked him if he had an example. Gunderman-said someone offered $1,000 for media center in the school just. to keep it operating. Also-something along the line of puppet wagon.
