October 7, 1981 Park Board Minutes
Page 8
Commers said now plans show things being planned in this particu-
lar wildlife area.
Dahl said that is what the Long Lake Study Committee will do -
to look at these kinds of concerns,
Gunderman feels the- letter should be referred to the Study
Committee.
Dahl agreed. That's what the committee is for.
Johnson stated that the reason the survey results were not in-
corporated into the plan is because the survey received low re-
sponse - not enough for a valid survey.
Anderson said that it-was worded in such a way that language was
a problem. He feels"if a'survey is going to be used, it should be
done professionally unless it is just going to be used in-house.
It was useful information.
Johnson said he would like the Park Board to keep a copy of the
names that were submitted with the letter.
Van Hatters said he would like to know how it was decided on who
to contact for the-Long Lake Improvement Association. Who was
asked.
Commers said .they had a map of those owning property along .the
lake and asked these people.
Gunderman stated that there have been inquiries from people asking
why they had not been asked to be a part of the association.
Anderson asked Commers about.. her reference to increase loss
incidence possibly attributed to the increased access to the
lake.
Commers said there was more boating activity this year.
Jacobs, a resident,. said there were more boats this year than
in the past. Possibly because of the beach access.
Anderson said the regulations have been the same for the .past
seven years. The :regulations have not been changed.
Van Hatters said it could be because of the economy, more people
staying close to home.
Commers said there were alot of robberies.
Johnson said-there are people that put boats in even though. there
are signs prohibiting launching but when it is patrolled, it
should be a better job.
