October 7, 1981 Park Board Minutes Page 5 B. Long Lake Park Study Committee Report Dahl said the. committee will try to have. the master plan ready by the December Park Board meeting, Will be discussing .the facilities planned in the concept plan. Will discuss each item. Worked on goals at the last meeting and .also talked about the beach. .The next meeting will be to discuss the boat launch and fishing. The following meeting wily on picnic facilities and the following Meeting on camping/trails/nature interpretive center. Have and will call in specialized people for these meetings. Les Proper attended the last meeting and Ren Simons has been present at each meeting. The Park .Board members will continue to get the minutes of these meetings. Each group has been. represented at the meetings but there has been absenteeism.- It was discussed how thorough the committee minutes should be. Gunderman asked if it would be possible to-hire a staff person to take minutes. Olson and Dahl did not feel extensive minutes were .necessary. Anderson said he did not feel it was appropriate to hire a staff person since these meetings were primarily intended as work sessions. Dahl does not foresee any major changes to the concept: plan. -Dahl said the beach will be cut into (horseshoe shape)- because of the problem-with the depth of the water where the beach is planned. Talked about what will be seem in the bathhouse- multi-season use; in the winter it can be used for cross country ski rental and in the summer for a bathhouse,.. Carlson said they haven't worried-about motions - just gone with the consensus of the group. Dahl said the screening of the beach area from residents on the lake had been.. talked about. Johnson stated he liked the better verbalized minutes. Carlson asked if the meetings were taped,. would it be easier? Dahl and Anderson responded no. V. New Business A. Pat Commers - Long Lake Park. Alternatives Pat Commers, representative of .the Long Lake Improvement Association, read'a letter she had prepared to the Park Board,. She stated that 154 people joined the Long Lake Improvement Association and 5 people chose not to. P~lembers of the Assn. have challenged the 'Park Board and Planning Commission on the issue of the proposed parks. The L.L.I.A, was formed 10 years ago and have been involved with:
