April 1, 1981 Park Board Minutes Page 4
A. Walburn Industrial Park .Preliminary Plat (Continued)
Archer said that was correct. What-New Brighton would like is a
Planned Unit developemnt. Rear yards are as important as front.
Drainage, landscape, possibility of deviation or parking. All de-
velopment on the site is planned as a unit.
Gunderman asked if noise control-was a consideration.
Archer said yes but it is very hard to enforce. The concerns of
the Park Board. and .Planning Commission go beyond that.
Van Hatten said he would like. to see something beneficial to both
the City. and to .Bury.
A Board of Review member asked where the Park Board feels the road
should be.
Anderson said at the minimum come off the cul-da-sac and go up the
line. The further north the better.
A Board of Review member asked if the applicant was willing to donate
land for the road.
Bury stated that it is $50,000-$60,000 worth of property. He is
not willing to commit himself yet. If he can come up with some-
thing to benefit both - yes.
Schmidt commented :that this is a great possibility for working out
a PUD. It has been very successful in the past. He is not sure
what .advantage there is to Bury but staff is very willing to work
with him.
B. Basic Industries Donation
The money has been approved.
Anderson also informed. the Park Board that Micom had donated $1,000
to the Park and. Recreation Department..
Gunderman felt this was timely.- It may open the door to a Park
Foundation.. There s`pride and prestige involved with the donation.
We could make it clear publichy.
Schmidt commented that. Edina has a good program for those that
donate. They have a regular system that they follow.
Gunderman mentioned that perhaps Anderson could get some information
from other Park and Recreation Departments on how they handle donations.
Schmidt said Edina had a trust fund and gave charitable contributions.
to parks and schools,
Gunderman asked Anderson if he was willing to check into it.
Anderson said he would,
