September 3, 1980 Park Board Minutes <br />Page 5 <br />One resident asked how much of the free skating area will be taken out. <br />Anderson said.it was not. the intention to decrease the size of-the <br />skating area in any:. way. <br />McKee stated she would like people. to come and watch how people turn <br />onto 5th from 16th. <br />Sylvester akked if there were any way to keep people from.. making the <br />full circle on.the dual entrance proposal. <br />Anderson said yes it could be changed in the design... <br />Carol Sylvester stated she objected to the whole thing and was ds- <br />appointed. that. the residents did not receive a notice of this meeting. <br />She felt it would have been more effective if they had. She objects <br />to the fact that the dual entrance/exit was brought up again. At the <br />last meeting she asked if there was anything new that prompted this <br />to be brought. up again and there wasn't. These people have missed <br />something. They have done too much-pol-t.cking, This has been a <br />terrific waste of time. Many Park Board members did not do their <br />homework and didn~t know many things about the Hansen area. She feels <br />the dual entrance/exit, is a safety problem and she will have all the <br />overflow parking on her street and Mayor Senden will have none. <br />Darle Sylvester asked how many people present were in favor of the <br />dual entrance.- There is no one here tonight to express support for <br />the dual entrance. <br />Carol Hansen asked if there would be a decision made at this meeting. <br />Gunderman stated he did not know - it depends on .the pleasure of the. <br />Park Board. <br />A resident asked if the Park Board .represents .the people in this <br />community. <br />Johnson said we are an. advisory board to the Council:. <br />Gunderman stated we have always tried to be representative of the <br />community. <br />Carol Sylvester said that even though this is an advisory board. the <br />Council has final decision and` we may have to go through this again. <br />McKee asked how the Hansen Park project would be funded. <br />Anderson said partially through federal revenue sharing and also <br />liquor store revenues. <br />Van Hatten stated concern with the...number of parking spaces, In <br />light of what has .been discussed he feels that,tY~e lot should hold <br />at least 100..cars.. <br />Johnson stated it was previously decided that 75-84 cars were <br />sufficient. <br />
