°September 3, 1980 Park Board Minutes Page 7
Anderson said he's always been in favor of a dual entrance/exit. for
safety reasons as Proper stated.
Motion by Dahl., seconded by Olson,. to recommend to the Council Plan
C (single entrance/exit at present': location) with somewhat square
corner on the northeastern corner of the parking lot with the possi-
bility of a turn around.
Motion passed. Carlson, D~h1, Grimshaw, Olson, Solberg ayes
Hogan, Johnson, Van Hatten naves
Gunderman abstained
Benke stated option C can be made to work.
Anderson stated he would like the Park Board to make any comments,.
suggestions or changes on the totes Hansen Park concept plan. He
explained that when the .concept plan went to the Council a year ago
they said they'll give us permission to work on soccer field, etc.
and then come back with a revised plan for the rest of the park.
The proposed parking lot will be incorporated into the whole plan.
He is expecting discussion of soccer practice area, free skating,
sidewalks, etc. Once the plan is adopted and the money is avail-
able the plan is set so-the work can be done immediately, The total
plan will be approved by the Council but it may take a number of
years before all work is completed.
Mohr asked what was going to be done with the ditch by his home.
Anderson said it is in the CIP now. Whether it will stay in and
when it will be done he wasn~.t sure.
This is nearly the same plan that the Park Board approved a year ago.
Anderson said he would like Park Board's consideration of the entire
plan.
Gunderman asked what the final decision was on the location of the
tot lot.
Anderson said the .tot lot would stay in its present location but
would be expanded with .timbers and :ties. The free skating would
stay where it is and there would be a picnic area south-and east
in this plan.
Gunderman asked if the proposed soccer practice area was too soft.
Anderson said it is being mowed now. He hesitates in calling a
soccer field because it will not be lined and no posts put in .but.
it is likely that soccer is what the area will be used for.
Gunderman asked if .the. speed skating area has changed.
.Anderson. said no. It will remain the same.. It is not intended to
be made smaller. The size was determined by the speed skaters and
it will stay that size.
