June 4, 1980 Park Board Minutes <br />Page 7 <br />Johnson commented that Vets area would be a good area to put <br />the museum in. <br />Benke said that the downtown planning is alot further along thane <br />most people think. There are already many things being considered <br />for the downtown area such as a restuarant, hotel, office building, <br />clinic, etc.. <br />Joyce stated that there is money available from-the State and other <br />agencies. <br />Gunderman thanked her for sharing her ideas with the Park Board <br />and invited her back for-the next meeting with the slide presentation. <br />VI. Old Business <br />A. Joint Powers Agreement <br />The Highview Joint Powers,Agreement was approved by the Council. <br />The Council requested that Ramsey County fund 100% for operation <br />and maintenance of Long Lake Park and .the City retain complete <br />control. <br />Anderson said this information has been relayed to the county and <br />and Metro Council.- Anderson explained we are wil ing to negotiate <br />and maybe willing to pick up the overhead. <br />Gunderman asked-how the Frisbee Golf was working. <br />Anderson said it is not fully installed because the equipment was <br />being retooled:from:fiberglass to, metal so it d~e?ayed shipment. The <br />posts are in and everything is ready and waiting for the shipment <br />to come in. <br />Anderson stated the survey will_be in the newsletter next week and <br />it looks .good. <br />Gunderman asked if anyone was interested in a tour of the parks <br />in July. <br />The response was yes. <br />The date was set for July 2nd 5:30:to meet in the-church parking <br />lot by the golf course. <br />VII. Announcements. <br />A. Citizen Study Committee <br />The Citizen Study Committee is interested in-the Long-Lake clean <br />up project. <br />Gunderman commented that many committees may be interested in the <br />clean up. <br />Gunderman said they could be invited to attend the July meeting <br />for something to do in August. <br />
