April 2, 1980 Park Board Minutes Page 2 and commissions.- The Council has been meeting with board and commission chairpersons quarterly and with boards and commissions at least once a year. The purpose of these meetings is to dis- cuss what each is doing so that there is an understanding be- tween the. Council and each board or commission, also to discuss plans and to be sure things are going in .the right direction. The Council feels it is important to know that-the Comprehensive Park Plan is: now Park. Board priority so that-they may work with the Park Board on this project. Dahl asked how much information the .Council has received regarding the. Park Board's discussion on the Comprehensive Park Plan. Benke stated that .the Council is receiving Park Board minutes and attachments. Gunderman asked if the Council was satisfied with the Park Board minutes. The Council members responded yes. Gunderman asked if .they were too long. The response was no. Schmidt felt it was nice to have the discussion in the minutes. Dahl asked what is happening with Hansen.. Park (particularly the west side). Anderson responded the Council sent the plan back to the staff and Park Board to be reworked. There was discussion regarding incl~.t~sion of the plan in the consultant work done on the comprehensive plan. No work is currently scheduled for Hansen in 1980 'but. the plan must be ,completed-prior to 1981. Dahl asked if there was any. critical timing involved. Anderson said there always is when property is :just sitting because many times things come up that may be useful. Gunderman felt Long Lake site ..should. be looked:at. It'-should be decided what will happen if the County backs out. What will the City do .with or without-the County. He feels it would be a dis- service to the residents if nothing was done. The: City should have an alternative plan. The City can't-wait years for the County to move. He feels Long Lake should be-looked at informaly and feelings should be expressed on what should be done. The park should be cleaned up and available for New Brighton residents. Benke asked if the .County will pay the City for maintaining the park. Anderson stated that the County is consideringa 75-25o County split.
