April 2, 1980 Park Board Minutes <br />Page 4 <br />Anderson stated that part of the money was to be used for a nature <br />center but can't see it happening because. of the number of them <br />in the immediate area. <br />Senden said there is too much time between actions. by the County. <br />We are forgetting where we are. We should put Long Lake on-the <br />agenda and make sure we are on top of it all the time. There <br />should be a list of tasks and their deadlines. <br />Van Hatten asked if there was any proposed schedule.. <br />Anderson again stated that May is when the County will have more <br />information. The Metro Council is also: pushing to see something <br />done. <br />Van Hatten said that. maybe the County would welcome input from <br />the City. <br />Anderson stated that the Metropolitan Council has the most in- <br />fluence for input to the County. <br />Gunderman stated the City should give their ideas to the County <br />before the County Board meets. <br />Schmidt agreed that we should get. our input in. <br />Johnson stated they should have a good idea of what we want. <br />Senden stated we should start with a status report and layout <br />senario on what to expect.) We are putting our destiny in other <br />people's hands. <br />Anderson stated the Park Board reviewed the original draft and <br />made comments. The Park Board's comments were noted `in the second <br />draft. <br />Benke added that it took 9 months though for them to do that. <br />Gunderman suggested taking action before their meeting. <br />Benke asked if a status report could be done for the Council <br />meeting on Tuesday, April 8th. <br />Anderson stated no because City Manager's deadline is Tuesday, <br />12:00 the week before the`Council meets. <br />Gunderman-stated we should also get input from our County <br />commissioners. <br />Senden said Don Lais should attend or~eof the Park Board meetings. <br />Long Lake area resident Bob Polzak stated homeowners definately <br />feel residents have some_:jurisdiction over the park, He wanted <br />to inform everyone-that there will_be a change in the leadership <br />of the Long Lake Home Owners Association. If owners of property <br />don't agree, there will be problems. Homeowners will be more <br />
