March 5, 1980 Park Board Minutes Page 8 <br />Benke asked if this particular plan had been approved by the • <br />Watershed District.. DeBenedet answered provisionally yes. <br />Johnson asked if the 20 grade in the park would be too steep <br />to include equipment and activities planned. <br />Anderson stated it was more than he wanted but it will drain <br />faster. It eliminates some grades around boundaries of the <br />park. <br />Hogan asked what the one year storrm`is in inches. <br />DeBenedet answered lao. (100% probability storm) <br />Benke asked how steep the banks were in the north - would <br />they be fenced <br />DeBenedet stated they are a 3 to 1 grade which is considered <br />safe or good design practice. <br />Benke asked if there .is a problem with. the parking lot being <br />flooded. <br />Proper, City,Engin.eer, responded that the stalls were to the <br />south and'a.short term flood will not affect the parking lot.. <br />He does not foresee a problem. <br />Johnson asked what the change was in elevation in the middle <br />of the parka <br />DeBenedet stated it was still a 12 foot cut. <br />Johnson asked if they would come to clay when it was graded. <br />The response was that in the grading that had been done, no <br />clay had come_.up.. <br />Grimshaw asked what the water_level'is on the parking lot. <br />The response was a maximum of 48 inches. <br />Resident asked what the dark green areas on the map repre- <br />sented. <br />The developer stated that was an area with a 10 to 1 slope <br />(one foot rise in a 10 foot.>run). The developer stated that <br />these slopes were-not on park land. <br />Benke expressed his assumption that a fence would be put in <br />around the park. <br />Anderson stated New Brighton has not fenced any other parks <br />unless it was necessary.
