Park Board Minutes -2- December 5, 1979
Background
Condominium garages and par}cinL spaces are planned be-
tween the existing building and the tennis courts. The
garages will be about the length of the school (or the
size of the existing black top). The parking spaces will
be about 25-30. Driveway c~~ill be 25 feet in back of
building, Garages will act as a buffer. Parking lot in
front will be smaller but adequate.
Dale Seppa, 20 Oakwood, stated that at one time there was
talk about tennis bang board at Silver Oaky concerned
that it will not get put in and present location of basket-
ball standard. Anderson stated that the standard could be
moved to a location other than what was originally planned
and bang board was still planned. Seppa also stated that
the sliding hill is big concern - one of the appeals to
the park. Terraced hill is desirable. Tf a new hill on the
north was constructed, it would double as an access and
sliding hill and he was not sure that would work.
Cadwallader commented that a new sliding hill could be
constructed.
~~layne Leverkuhn-, New Brighton Planning Commission, question-
ed the boundary line jog on the drawing (north of school
building).
Cadwallader said the reason for the jog in the boundary
line caas to put in a walkway (steps) and this would give
a buffer area between the building and the park.
Sandy Poffenberger, 290 17th St. ST^J gave the Park Board
three pages of signatures with request that the east side
of the park be left open as green space. Also had concern
to keep sliding hill and the safety of the sliders.
Motion by Gunderman, seconded by ~r~estling, to accept
the signaturesy 3 pages (twa writing on bath sides and
one writing on one side). Motion passed.
Cadwallader commented that a berm could be built to stop
sliders from sliding onto the street..
Dave Swenson, 1693 3rd St. SG1 provided recommendations.
P~Tain ones are
1. Pdew Brighton approved three P.R.D.es. .Houses will be
on all sides of park.
2e 6aant to maintain sliding hill and games area.
