Park Board T~inutes --3- December 5, 1979
Gunderman asked Cadwallader what the plan would be if the
three homes were eliminated. Frori a park point of view
the desi~?n destroys everything a park is. If economical
alternatives are possible he *.aould like to hear what they
are.
Cadwallader stated he has not considered this as an option.
The. joint powers agreement is vague as what the use of the
park is. The intent is open space. He tried to maintain
open space. Five acres of park still will exist. Tried
to maintain existing park apparatus.
Gunderman stated there was alot of space .but it is chopped
up, function is not good. Put houses in southwest corner,
Cadwallader responded that the southwest corner is not an
attractive view (overlooking garages) and is less accessible
too.
Gunderman felt no need for driveway into the park. Not com-
fortable with three single family homes. Looks patchy.
Cadwallader stated the single family homes would aet as a
buffer between the condominiums and the existing neighbor-
hood.
Mayne Leverkuhn asked what the economic analysis is if no
homes are built? Does it make the entire project unfeasible?
Cadwallader said there would be a loss of dollars but it
is not totally unfeasible. He has not looked into this
option.
Johnson suggested putting duplexes in southwest corner with
garages underneath. The tennis court would have to then be
moved back.
City Planner stated that the topography and utilities would
make building on Oakwood Most practical.
Cadwallader explained that he had passed flyers around for
a meeting with residents. A.t that time the drawing had
four single family homes. Comments and concerns at the
meeting were similar to the ones at this meeting but the
comments were not negative to the drawings. The number of
single family homes was not a concern at that time. He
has tried to meet the public's request. ~~1uch planning
has been involved. He has attended many meetings G71.th
the school board and many other boards.
The Park Board was asked by the Board of Revieca to comment
on the following five concernso
