Park Board <br />`4- December 5,.1979 <br />1. Location of parking spaces and garages in reference to <br />the park. <br />Motion by Dahl, seconded by trlestling, that the parking <br />lots and garages as they appear on draGTing #3 are fine <br />as in relation to the park. <br />Johnson stated a 15 foot buffer should be maintained <br />between the garages and tennis courts and that the <br />garages should not extend beyond the width of the build- <br />ing ( to the T?orth) . <br />The City Planner stated it is important that the buffer <br />be mentioned in the motion because the Planning Comm- <br />ission needs that information. <br />The above motion eras withdrawn by Ellen Dahl. <br />Motion by Johnson, seconded by Olson, that the backside <br />of the garages face the tennis courts. rTotion passed. <br />Motion by Dahl, seconded by Olson, that. the garages go <br />no further north tYian the edge of the school building <br />and buffer between the back of the Garages and the <br />tennis courts (this would include ar. area to walk, <br />shag balls, etc.) Notion passed. <br />Grimshaw asked what the width of the tennis courts was. <br />The response was 100 x 100. Staff stated that an area <br />of 50 x 50 would be large enough for a basketball court <br />and this would still leave 50 x 100 parking area (about <br />eight cars). <br />Olson questioned if a parking lot is really needed. <br />The response caas that the parking lot is used for girls <br />softball and youth baseball participants and spectators. <br />There is a need for about 20 parking spaces. <br />Sandy Poffenberger stated that handicapped people <br />should also be considered. <br />Grimshaw stated he does not like the idea of the parking <br />lot and basketball court being the same area. <br />Johnson-asked if the tennis courts could be moved west. <br />Anderson responded that i-t Baas possible .but most fencing <br />cjould have to be moved; etc. The total cost would be <br />approximately $10,000-$15,000. <br />The City Planner stated that the Planning Commission <br />wanted the Park Board`s comments on whether the pro- <br />posed parking area would be large enough. <br />
