zo
JS Mr. Simon would be the best individual to a,nser that. since it's in the
County portion of the part. Ken
KS: There'll be a. building.........~rge room similax to this .......group can
have a presentation before they go out into the field, there'll probably be an
office facility for the Na.tu~alist. Rest room facilities, probably some kind of
over look of the Rush I~ ke Site so that there is ......value there...........
eattend out over the wa-ter, some sort of a platform situation. That's basically
it and of ~~ course the associated parking. And out from the building the
trails will radiate out ..................there is a .....meadow in the area
which we'll probably develop into prairie a.rea........we're trying to bring an
assortment both of existing natural habitats and .....................•.•••
That's basically what it would be....... We are at this time building a mobil
interpretive{?j facility and prior to constructing any other facility there
we'll probably ..........on an experimental ba.sis...try out, our program.
JS Does that answer the question?
KB: Yes
JIm; Okay. This gentleman I believe had his hand up.
Yes, just to make a comment. Ken Brown, I live atL440 rlounds Ave. I won't
comment on the Park itself. did-}ike-to-express I think the expression of
the group here reflects my sentiments. The only additional point that I'd make
is that the water use a.s far as boats ,I think could be addressed to sooner in
our planning than what we've alluded to here since we already have public
access I think that some restrictions might be ~,n-order along the lines of
long term use of the boasts., whether that's restricted by horse power or what.
I speak as a boat owner, but as an experienced boat owener who does not live
on ~ the lake and that lake is not suitable for power boats. At the same time
if you let the public on the lake with boats I would be restricted to my use
on that lake with my children with canoes and sailboats. I would like to use
the lake. I'd like nothing better than to use it. But I think the use has to
be restricted to non power boats. And I think we should address ourselves to
that problem perhaps now. We already have a.n access. We already have the
problem so I don't think we need to wait ~ s or 6 years to determine Kl~at the
citizens of New Brighton should have access or not. whtehr
Maybe we should address that early. That's the only cojment that I have.
JS Yew sir
My name is Tort Post, I live atL162 Ia.kebrook. A short question. I just
wondered what you felt would be the desirea.bility of having 3 parking lots
3 seperate parking lots in a park of fairly limited size.
JS Maurie, could you respond to the parking?
MA The parking lots a.re tied into the activity areas a.nd we attempted to
spread out the activity areas rather than concentrate for instance sal the
picnicking at one site and ending up with a 2 acre parking lot and a. LO acre
picnic site. We've broken them down to picnic areas here, here and then picnic
area. in conjunction with the beach here. So the size, the shape, the location
of the parking lots would be directly related to the other activities going on.
There's no desire to put a parking lot in just for the sake of a parking lot.
But would be tied directly to the activities that would be provided.
JS Yes
