Those of you who sit behind the
table by and large have been elected by the citizens of New Brighton to
represent the wishes of the citizens of New Brighton and I think this is a.
very good opportunity for tyou to observe the wishes of the citizens of New
Brighton with regard to the particular Long Lake Site Plan that is presented
here this evening. I understand that it's _a concept plan but in terms of
concept I think that you should indicate those parts of the Plan you find are
desireable and those parts of the Plan that are not desireable. And in terms
of concept, you can tztke conceptually I think that the area around the hush
sa.y
Lake Site is desireable as given in this Plan and we approve that particular
part of the Plan. I think that the area along the South side of the Lake,
particularly with regard to the boat launching, is not desireable and remove
that from the Plan. If you think the swimming area is desireable you can say
I think a swimming area. is desireable but perhaps the location of that area
should be moved and we want study on that. Too often a conceptual plan is
approved with the idea that this is just a guideline for the future and we're
going to study it a.nd then changes can be made and I guess that that is true
about a. concept plan You approve a concept, and study it and make changes.
But I guess I would really caution you to approve a concept plan that you
disagree with at the time and then hope to change it to come in accord with
your wishes. I think it's much better if you have a concept saying well we
watn a developemtn in this area.,~eart of the development that is presented
here we do not approve of so
blank that out in white or whatever color you want or leave it green and say
this is an area that we're going to study and direct ~ the Park Board to make
a study with regard to that particular area to plug it into the Plan. I'm
hoping that you'll consider this because I think it's very important to the
citizens of New Brighton that the type of decision that you make is~~'~ in
accord with the best wishes of the Citizens of N B and the only way that they
can show you their wishes is either by direct contact with you or by making
their wishes known at public meetings such as this. Thank you
Applause
JS Any other comments? Yes ,~~}~.
I am am P~Tary Lynn Bitch. I live at 18U~0 15th Ave. N.W. and I have been coming
quite regularly to the Park Board meetings and I would like to invite as many
people as have any voice, particularly like tonight to come to these Park
Board meetings because that is where a.ll of these things a.re individually
and take up just as much time with the Park Board which that is their first
prior~hty rahter than the Council's time. r,verybody is heard at the Park Board
no matter how you're speaking or how long you want to take and a lot of these
organizations that have 1 orL representatives it might be a. good idea, to
formally give some member of your association formal representative status
that he can go to every park board meeting a.nd report back to you. Thank you.
Applause
JS Further comments? Yes sir
Yes, Ted Kern and I;m on the Park Board and I live at 109 1st St. S.E. Most
of the people who have spoken tonight live right in this area.. I represent
another paxt of New Brighton and I'm also a citizen. A lot of time has been
spent on what is going into the nark. Some of the answers on the boat
