23
a.ll make mistakes. And anybody here who doesn't make a mistake please show
their hand. I would just say to you that if this were the case why not,.-xe there
not tennis courts in this plan. when tenis courts outnumber boast launching. Now
my point being that for example in this articular one situation I'm talking
about, it's not the only ogee, but I ,~}~~~~~~~~ 'm picking this particular one
as a.n esa.mple, Out of the 412 peope ,that 234 for boat launching, amounts
to z point per person, that means out of 10 points for a first place to 1 point
for a tenth choice, that means that its about 20th on the list. Whereas
tennis courts is half again as large, but we don't have tenns courts there.
Now what I'm saying to you is that I don't think the Park Board has done as good
a job as they could do I think that they can do a better job.
Applause
JS Any further comments ? Ah yes I see one hand back there.
This may deem like a silly qustion but can a motion be made from the floor to
'I~~b~w amend or deletheo.a.c•ett•or•reeecttoriamendrhave toucome from theoCouncdl?aal
N~ of the motions t c p ~
I ~ ~ ~~
JS In our form of government all motions must be from the Council and you
don't even get to vote.
I see, so that noone here can sugget a.n amendment
JS No
Okay, well, as long as I'm up here
laughter
......from that part of the country originally, and we just purchased 1501 17th
St. N.W. a:nd have just purchased land here a.nd like it very much, enjoy the
lake the way it is. Again must congratulate the Park Bureau on the find things
that I see in the Regional Park but ca.n only go along with the majority opinion
to do away with camp grounds, a.nd do away with boat launches. I think they
axe not, they do not go along with the will of the people in the Region I
think that, t-hzrnenlt-looked you haven't looked .....enough range to patroling
When you're talking about camp grounds, you're talking about sanitary facilities.
I don't think that you thought some of that through. And some of the larger
things and the volume ~~`;~-~Yie~e-people-anc~ that would be,~these people and things
would affect the quality of the water on the lake. of
Some of the building you're talking about is going to, ah you're going to have
to be careful where you build because you're going to get silltation. I don't
think that I have heard anything in the presentation that guarantees the
quality of the water or the fish in the lake or the quality of the water for :
swimming. I think that this hasn't been thought about when you're talking about
volumne I think the county has donw a beautiful job ah nothing is around
Rush Lake except natural habitats. I think they've done an absolutely gorgeous
job. I think the concept of the long bicycle trails from Mississippi all the
way down to Long Lake is excellent. And I must congratulate you on the thought
that went into that. But I must go along with the majority of people I have
heard to do away with the high speed boat launches, and the ca.m ground, and
the intensive building on what should be a passive park.
~c~,~ t~~ _~~~..,.,~
