r. ~ • <br />(3) <br />Capital Impro~rements Program Public Hearing - Announcement was made <br />of the Capital Improvements Program hearing scheduled for February 20, <br />1975 at 7:00 p.m. in the City Hall Council Chambers. Gunderman assigned <br />Board members Dahl, Smith and Sullivan to attend hearing in representa- <br />tion of Board. <br />Senior Citizens Funding - Department informed Board that Ramsey County <br />Welfare Departmen has allocations for senior citizens funding. <br />Originally $100,000 was requested for the suburbs of Ramsey County. <br />20,000 has been granted per school district to set up senior citizens <br />programs for each school district through community education. Goal <br />is to set up a responsive group, good programs with a full-time <br />coordinator having a social services concentration. <br />Bicentennial - Department informed Board of the City-wide committee <br />to set up programs for the 1976 Bicentennial. One meeting has been held <br />with the next one scheduled for February 27. Representatives from <br />civic groups, interested residents, etc. have been in attendance. <br />Meetings are open and welcome those who are interested. <br />Summer Staff Recruitment - Department stated they hope to have summer <br />staff together by mid-April. Recruitment began January 31, the reason <br />being for the early start is that more time is required for the training. <br />of personnel. 20-25 part-time employees will be needed. <br />Announcements: A community band has been successfully formed and intends <br />to perform at Hansen Park in the future. Primarily consists of adults, <br />however, high school students will be accepted. It was noted that the <br />Schmidt Music Company donated $1,200 worth of music for the band. <br />Next meeting is scheduled for WEDNESDAY, MARCH 5, ly;~ at 8:00 p.m. in <br />the City Hall Council Chambers. <br />Park Board Election - Arlyn Gunderman was reinstated as Chairman of <br />the Park Board with the Vice-Chairman being member present having <br />seniority. <br />Ice Arenas - Sullivan asked Board for permission to pursue subject of <br />an ice arena in New Brighton as she felt the positive aspect was not <br />fully brought out. Permission granted. <br />Brightwood Hills Golf Course - Department announced to the Board that <br />the course was turned down by Ramsey County and is going into legislation. <br />Meeting adjourned at 10:~-5 p.m. <br />Respectfully submitted, <br />Maurice H.
