(2) <br />Salem Covenant Site - The Board was informed that the Salem Covenant <br />Church has begun the development of the proposed casual park on the <br />city-owned property adjacent to the church. Weissman asked about what <br />facilities would be included in this development. It was explained <br />that at the present time only a ball diamond would be developed but <br />future development included an additional ball diamond, a picnic area, <br />trails and. possibly a horseshoe area on the city-owned property. It <br />was added that the church plans to develop a tot-lot on the chureh- <br />owned property in the area. <br />The Board was informed of the Department's recent talks with the United <br />Theological Seminary staff about gaining additional park land through <br />a permanent easement for parks on Seminary property. Weissman asked <br />about this location and was concerned about what facilities would be <br />at this site. The Board was informed that it was the intention of the <br />talks to gain information about the possibility of permanent easements <br />on the Seminary property and that it was the intention to have minimal <br />development in this area. <br />Motion by Gunderman and seconded by Dahl to have the Department further <br />examine the possibility of gaining a permanent easement on Seminary <br />property for park use. Motion carries: 5 - 0. <br />Tax Forfeiture Property - The Board was informed of three parcels in <br />the City that have become available through tax forfeiture. The Board <br />recommended that the Department further examine the property located <br />on Foss Road. The Board could see no possible gain that could be <br />realized from the property located on Old Highway 8 and recommends <br />that there be no further consideration of this property. Smith and <br />Cook asked if legal descriptions of the property on Foss Road and Long <br />Lake could be obtained. <br />M.R.P.A. Fall Conference - Tkle Department explained to the Board about <br />the 197 M.R.P.A. Fall Conference in relationship to the Board and <br />Commissions Section Meetings and the General Business Meeting. All <br />Board members were urged to attend this Conference. <br />Gold Medal Awards.- The Department presented to the Chairman and the <br />Board the plaques received from the Sports Foundation, Inc. Gunderman <br />spoke for the Board in congratulating the Department and recognizing <br />the efforts that are put forth during this competition. l~underman <br />asked to be placed on the Council's agenda for the November 26 meeting <br />to present the plaques to the Council. <br />Capital Im~provementse <br />``'he Board reviewed the administration's report to the Council considering <br />t're Capital Improvements Plan 1975-79. The Board was informed that this <br />was the final draft to be .presented to the Council and a Public Hearing <br />date for Capital Improvements would be set by the Council for early <br />next spring. Gunderman asked about the changes in dates of projects <br />and deletions of projects concerning Parks and Recreation. The Board <br />
