I

I

I

Council Meeting Minutes
October 14, 1986

Council Business, continued

Williams stated he would be personally embarrased to turn down
what we are about to approve and then expect Ramsey County to
fund the project with CDBG funds.

4 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried

Motion by Brandt, seconded by Williams, THAT THE CITY PICK UP THE
COST OF THE METROPOLITAN AREA SEWER SYSTEM, THE STATE BUILDING
PERMIT SURCHARGE, AND THE WATER METER FOR THIS PROJECT.

Benke asked what part of the budget it would be taken from;
Sinda responded staff would come back with a recommendation
which would be added to any other amendments.

Motion by Schmidt, seconded by Williams, to AMEND THE MOTION TO
DIRECT STAFF TO IMMEDIATELY ADVANCE FUNDS TO THE NEW BRIGHTON
AREA HISTORICAL SOCIETY ALREADY BUDGETED ($500.00) FOR NEXT YEAR
SUBJECT TO APPROVAL OF THE GRANT.

Schmidt explained that advancing the funds immediately gives the
Historical Society time to plan accordingly for whatever fund-
raising and efforts they need for their 1987 budget and it indi-
cates the source of the funds to cover the allocation, stating he
would rather give a donation than spending revenue on hard costs.

Brandt stated the amendment, in effect, deleted the original
motion; Schmidt agreed, Brandt concurred.

Benke stated, as a practical matter, the Society will not then
receive $500.00 from the City in 1987 for archival purposes,
however, that is a particular item that may be appropriate to be
included in the Centennial Commission's program.

Schmidt stated since there was a net difference of $12.00, he
would personally contribute that amount so that they would not
have to amend their application; Schmidt's $12.00 was graciously
received.

4 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried

Announcements and Updates

Sinda stated Councilmember Gunderman asked that council refer two
items to staff for a recommendation: 1. Apartment dwellers
across the street from Pike Lake School park their cars in the
school's parking lot during the winter when snow is being plowed
from the apartment's parking lot, and would like to have staff
take a look determing if there is some kind of a change in the

Page Nineteen

Announcements
and Updates

Gunderman's
Requests:
1. Parking in
School Lot
2. Vandalism in
Parks
