The Council has requested that the Park Board review the comprehensive park plan r_c-:~Zpiled in 1966. Particular concern was expressed over the building •~o b? constructed at Richard J. Hansen Park. Monies were set aside ~~~o-th for a temporary shelter to be used during the 1970 -71 skating season and for a permanent shelter to be constructed in the spring of 1971. The type and scope of the permanent building is of primary r.;ncern to the comprehensive plan review. Gunderman suggested that the Director of Parks and Recreation develop guide lines for the Board to follow in reviewing the plan. This should nclude a time-table calling for completion of the review before Christmas, 1970 and information as to what constitutes a revised park t-plan. It was suggested that building plans for Hansen Park should y;e completed by Christmas to insure actual occupancy of the structure before the skating season of 1971-72. Gunderman stated that to be effective, any projects included in the revised plan must be flexible enough to adopt to changing conditions, particularly finances. Smith moved that the Director develop guidelines for the Park Board's use in ~-e~,=ie~s~ing the comprehensive park plan to be submitted at the October _~!eeting. It was suggested that a type of building ,,^~_~ald be purchased that would be used at Hansen Park for one winter ~r..d then moved to another site to obtain additional use from it.
