y Park Board- ~ 2
March 19, .1970
representing Sportsmens Club, raised questions re number of stands,
use for trap only, insurance, etc. Questioned some problems with
archery, also (safety, insurance). After seeing the amount of space
needed, Mr. Daniels withdrew his request for this facility, and
thanked the Board for their willingness to explore this possibility.
Miscellaneous
Audience question about.. general '7th Street park lighting for streets
and parking lots. Brauer said they are waiting for NSP to come out
with a policy determination for perk lighting before moving ahead
in this area.
Discussion of sub-committee meeting with architect Art Dickey.
Brauer suggested considering giving Mr. Dickey latitude in looking
around the park for best building site, particularly before work
started on tennis courts. Suggested comprehensive look at building,
to include: senior citizens, young adults {primarily for space and
coordinator), little theatre (for space to practice, store, etc.),
arts and crafts, office space for future director of recreation,
equipment storage.
Received letter from Citizen's Study Committee regarding a joint
meeting of that group with Park Board, Planning Commission, and
Human Rights Commission. Favorable response from the Park Board to
have such a meeting. Ellen Dahl designated as Park Board coordinator
on a joint committee for planning.
Suggest Dahl call Brauer re citizen request to protect wild flowers
at south end of 7th Street park.
Park Board will send flowers to Dick Hansen
Meeting adjourned at 10:02 p.m.
