<br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />I <br /> <br />Council Meeting Minutes <br />September 23, 1986 <br /> <br />Council Business, continued <br /> <br />Motion by Gunderman, seconded by Brandt, to APPROVE THE RAMSEY <br />COUNTY COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT PROGRAM AGREEMENT AND <br />AUTHORIZE SIGNATURE BY THE MAYOR AND THE CITY MANAGER. <br /> <br />4 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried <br /> <br />Motion by Gunderman, seconded by Schmidt, to EXTEND THE TERM OF <br />OFFICE OF THE ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT ORGANIZATION TO DECEMBER 31, <br />1986 (see Resolution 84-138 dated September 25, 1984). <br /> <br />4 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried <br /> <br />Locke briefly reviewed staff report concerning the New Brighton <br />Area Historical Society's application for a Community Development <br />Block Grant from Ramsey County to move the New Brighton Depot to <br />Long Lake Park where it would be renovated and used as a museum. <br /> <br />Jan Newham, representative of the Society, stated the grant <br />would be for $50-65,000 and that the Society is in the process <br />of matching funds; and stated that, because the depot would be <br />placed in a Ramsey County park, it would take a long time for <br />eligibility to be determined. <br /> <br />Motion by Gunderman, seconded by Brandt, to WAIVE THE READING <br />AND ADOPT A RESOLUTION SUPPORTING THE NEW BRIGHTON AREA <br />HISTORICAL SOCIETY'S APPLICATION FOR A RAMSEY COUNTY COMMUNITY <br />DEVELOPMENT BLOCK GRANT. <br /> <br />4 Ayes - 0 Nayes, Motion Carried <br /> <br />Berger had nothing further to add to the staff report concerning <br />full-time employees and firefighters physical examination <br />policy. <br /> <br />In response to Gunderman's question of ramifications and whether <br />or not there were long-range plans for similar policies, Benke <br />emphatically stated this policy is not intended to be a first <br />step toward any kind of a drug testing policy and that he would <br />have objections to that course of action. <br /> <br />Berger stated the proposed policy is a part of a "Wellness <br />Program" for staff's benefit. <br /> <br />Page Thirteen <br /> <br />EOO: Extension of <br />Office Terms <br />Report 86-222 <br /> <br />COBG: Historical <br />Society <br />Report 86-223 <br />Resolution 86-96 <br /> <br />Policy: Physical <br />Examinations <br />Report 86-224 <br />
