Members present: Carlson, Grimshaw, Gunderrnan, Hogan, Johnson, Olson, <br />Van Hatten,_Council Rep. Schmidt. <br />Members absent: • Dahl, Solberg- <br />III. Correspondence <br />A. Council Report <br />Schmidt said a Finance Advisory Board had been set up. Approval <br />was given to the MTM for a special permit, Received a report <br />on the district. survey, regarding turning solid waste into steam <br />energy. Innsbruck gravel site was approved for compost site. <br />The County may help financially with the compost site. Have <br />talked to Funk's attorney regarding Sunny .Square. <br />Anderson .said the log jam is broken. regarding the Sunny-Square <br />hold up. Closing is planned for Tuesday at 4:00. Expect to <br />break ground on the 14th and have the playground equipment in <br />this fall. <br />Schmidt said he next City Council meeting will be on the 15th <br />because of the primary election. <br />Schmidt said the city is working on the financing for the downtown <br />development. The city is proposing to dig three new wells and put <br />in an iron .filter system. Met with PCA - city will have to cover <br />its own costs - still gathering data. <br />Jim Fornell stated that drilling 2 wells may be better than 3. <br />It's the peak times that are bad and a th:~~d well may not help. <br />The savings would be substantial. -Staff has a few options; one <br />is recommending a referendum leving 75% and the ..city pickup the <br />250. Another option would be restricting water use per parcel. <br />Another option is limit the demand. <br />Gunderman asked if .the pollution will eventually go deeper. <br />Fornell said it is possible., but will be doing periodic tests. <br />Gunderman asked if the water would cleanse itself if it was pumped out. <br />Fornell said that's something they don't know. <br />Grimshaw asked what-the cost would be to tie into the Minneapolis <br />water system. <br />Fornell said it is being. looked at but cost prohibitive. It is <br />surface water and the taste is not good. Minneapolis would not <br />solve our peak demand problem. because that's everyone's peak, <br />
