Encourage the CIP fund donations. Would like to .see the fund itself set up as semi-permanent. Like to see the entire operational cost of Long Lake taken from the fund. Take l00 of the yearly interest and add to .the principal so it will pay for future in- creased operational costs. Hogan said it would be hard to ask for contributions for this fund when we don't know what theintexest will be used 'f or. Think it should be specif ically for parks. Grimshaw said he likes the idea of publicity. But if someone contributes and then we tell them-we are using the :money for operation of Long Lake and to pay salaries it may be confusing.. Johnson said. if you talk to businessmen they get excited about something like. this. Anderson said maybe-we should be tapping the big corporations, $5,.000 and up. Johnson said we could give people their option. Carlson feels any monies from that fund should be going to parks. Like to see it fund Long Lake Park as much as possible, Don't care if profits are capital outlay or whatever but don't like to see it locked in. Like holding onto the principal but don't want to tell a company they put in a donation but it just goes to the principal (like the combination of what Ken and Dave V. said). Olson feels the interest should be going into Park & Rec. maintenances The money was originally for Long Lake Park, so it should go there. Anderson asked Fornell-what he thought about adding to the principal. Fornell. said it sounds good. Gunderman asked if a motion ~s~hould be made for the Council regarding fund use. Johnson said he would like to work on something of worth before. submitting it to the Council. Fornell suggested publishing now, maybe start with the City-.Hall Newsletter. Carlson said-it seems we should have things final and, clear-cut as to what we are going to do with the money before we do anything.
